The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has announced a comprehensive plan to build, operate and maintain a city-owned network of electric vehicle (EV) ‘fast-charger’ stations in the city’s underserved communities, ensuring that working-class Angelenos share in the benefits of L.A.’s transition to a clean energy future.
L.A. City Councilmember Curren Price and members of the community joined together to celebrate the groundbreaking of the future Sen. Bill Greene Memorial Park on the corner of Figueroa Street and Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles.
The program, which still needs approval of the City Council, would have the LADWP install large-scale photovoltaic solar plants in and near the L.A. basin, and allow customers with accounts associated with multifamily dwelling units to sign up to buy for blocks of energy.
