Compton College Supporting the Health, Wellness, and Educational Needs of our Community

Compton College has a rich history of providing services to students throughout Los Angeles County, many of you attended Compton College, or a family member or a friend attended Compton College. We need your help letting others know about Compton College and the many opportunities and supports that are available to Compton College students. We have courses available for the spring 2021 second-eight-week session, which begins on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Help us tell our story, consider enrolling at Compton College, tell family members, your neighbors, and your friends about enrolling at Compton College.

Compton School District, Health Group Partner for Mass Vaccination Sites

The partnership is the first of its kind in Los Angeles County, and will result in the ability to vaccinate tens of thousands of Compton residents once community vaccination begins. Compton Unified is the first school district in the state to establish schools as mass vaccination venues, according to the district.

Located on Avalon Blvd., just South of Gage, sits a small medical facility that has been waging a fierce fight in the war against COVID-19 from the very beginning. The battle started with the need for testing kits which originally were delivered to the West side of the city before South Los Angeles, mainly because Westside residents have better health insurance coverage than those residing in South L.A.

Councilman Curren Price, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Supervisor Hilda Solis Bring Hope to Hope Street With New Homeless Shelter

It was a great day to have hope in Los Angeles as Councilman Curren Price, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Supervisor Hilda Solis celebrated the completion of the first Bridge Home in District 9. Coining the term, “Bringing Hope to Hope Street,” many gathered on March 5, to support the new temporary housing unit located on 2817 S. Hope Street. This specific location will now be the twelfth to open in LA as part of the city’s homeless shelter program. The new shelter will house 100 homeless men and women from the community and help them transition into permanent supportive housing.
