Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the rate of new cases of diabetes in the United States declined by about 20 percent from 2008 to 2014 . This represents the first sustained decrease in diagnosis since the disease emerged as a major threat to public health over the course of the past two decades.
