Social distancing has made hair care incredibly difficult. The worst thing for Black hair is lack of moisture. Running low on supplies while having to stay in a confined space causes my hair to transform into a large frizz ball like in the short film “Hair Love.” Now that beauty shops and hair care stores are closed, my hair has become a bunch of frizzy puffs.
Wednesday, February 19, Councilman Price lead a special City Council presentation where he recognized director, producer and writer of “Hair Love” Matthew Cherry and his entire team for their significant achievement.
The creators of “Hair Love” were honored today by the Los Angeles City Council for their seven-minute Oscar-winning animated short that explores the challenges a father experiences while trying prepare his daughter’s hair.
The 92nd Annual Academy Awards wasn’t much different this year diversity wise, but did deliver a distinguished accomplishment worth celebrating
The 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards kicked off Black History Month with a bang, hosting it’s nominee luncheon to celebrate those who’ve set the bar high in Black arts and entertainment. The swanky nominee luncheon was held at the W Hotel in Hollywood, where the preceding year’s creatives, actors, writers, producers, directors and the like gathered for a moment to celebrate each other in melanated glory.
Hair Love, a new animated short showing the love between a Black father and daughter, is now in theaters. Premiering right before Angry Birds 2, the animation short gives insight and relatability of Black fatherhood to a broad audience.
