Student Athlete of the Week: Zebulon Barnes 

Zebulon Barnes received a full scholarship to Lincoln University to play golf. Barnes started playing golf at a young age but took a seven-year hiatus from the sport.  “I started playing tournaments when I was six,” Barnes said. “It’s been one heck of a journey.” 

Tee Divas and Tee Dudes Honor Black Golf History

The Tee Divas and Tee Dudes (TDTD) Golf Club celebrated Black Golf History with their third annual Celebration Brunch. The youth golfers not only honored golf pioneers like Charlie Sifford but also showed their gratitude towards TDTD and the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) for providing them with opportunities.

Intersport Launches ‘The John Shippen’ to Identify Historical Barriers and Expand Black Representation in Golf

Intersport, in collaboration with Rocket Mortgage, Trion Solutions, Dow, The Children’s Foundation and Sommer Woods (co-founder of Woods and Watts Effect), announced the launch of a new national golf event: ‘THE JOHN SHIPPEN’ to identify historical barriers and expand Black representation in the sport of golf. The event will be held at Detroit Golf Club from June 27 to June 28, with a one-hour TV special about THE JOHN SHIPPEN airing on CBS leading into final-round coverage of the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday, July 4.
