In a new low water mark for Zimbabwe’s troubled economy, two million people in Zimbabwe’s capital have now been left without water after the government ran out of foreign currency to pay for imported water treatment chemicals.
In anticipation of severe weather due to El Niño, the city of Compton has announced the opening of their Winter Shelter Program. The program will operate through March 31, 2016 and provides meals, access to showers and transportation to and from shelter locations for participants.
The city of Los Angeles has set aside $12.4 million to help house the homeless and provide more temporary shelter during El Nino storms expected this winter, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles City Council members announced last week.
