Patrons witnessed legends and emerging icons of Ballroom culture deliver dynamic artistry on the runway through dance and rhythmic movement with Black bodies that were opulently adorned.

The Advocates Pro Golf Association (APGA) has created a space for more diversity within the game of golf. Founded in 2010, the organization recently held a Pro-Am golf tournament hosted by Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony Award-winning entertainer Debbie Allen along with her husband, NBA legend and sports commentator Norm Nixon.

Theatre Director Sheldon Epps’ New Book Celebrates and Encourages Self-Direction

Sheldon Epps, one of the first Black artistic directors in American regional theatre, has written a new book entitled, “MY OWN DIRECTIONS: A Black Man’s Journey in the American Theatre.” Epps chronicles his tribulations and triumphs as a freelance director, which led him to the Pasadena Playhouse, where he served as artistic director for twenty years. During that time, he helmed many productions, also directing episodes of classic television shows along the way.

Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy (DADA) has joined a long list of sponsors offering a prize to the winners of the 2022 “Uplifting Minds II” (ULMII) Entertainment Conference’s national talent competition. DADA is offering the dance category winner 10 classes to the Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy. The “ULMII” competition other categories include singing, songwriting and acting. Performers get 4 minutes to showcase their talents before the “ULMII” industry panelists make their decision.
