Actor Courtney B. Vance Headlines AAHM Event at L.A. Central Library

The Los Angeles Central Library in downtown L.A. hosted a sit-down discussion on Feb. 8 between Emmy and Tony award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance and moderator/actor William Allen Young to discuss Vance’s book, “The Invisible Ache: Black Men Identifying Their Pain and Reclaiming Their Power” in celebration of African American Heritage Month.

The Opening of the Intuit Dome starts a new chapter in the history of Inglewood. Along with a ribbon cutting ceremony, pop star Bruno Mars headlined a two-night concert series. Several celebrities and public figures were in attendance to celebrate a night that represented new beginnings and music.  

PBS SoCal Premieres ‘Hollywood’s Architect: The Paul R. Williams Story’ Celebrating Life and Work of Iconic African American Architect

PBS SoCal, Southern California’s home for the premieres of new PBS programs, hosted the world premiere of the new documentary Hollywood’s Architect: The Paul R. Williams Story on Feb. 3 at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles. Over 175 guests attended the red-carpet event and standing room only screening and panel discussion that included legendary music producer Quincy Jones, Disney CEO and Williams’ homeowner Robert Iger, as well as Williams’ grandchildren Paul Hudson, Gayle Harvey Beavers and Karen Hudson-Freeman.

In American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, Courtney B. Vance embodies the late Johnnie Cochran. The nine-part mini-series is the retelling of one of the most controversial cases in pop culture. Vance talks about how current events may be different if Cochran were alive today. With over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry, the Yale and Harvard trained thespian shares the importance of being fiscally responsible in-between gigs which alleviates the pressure of having to take every role that comes across his path. With his extensive filmography including “Fences” on Broadway to “Law & Order”, Vance gets candid about typecasting and the importance of knowing your worth.
