Forget counseling, Shawn Jones-Murray lets his feet do the talking. Born in Minneapolis and raised in Chicago, he grew up in a family where dance was not just a hobby, it was a way to end arguments and keep the peace.
In November 1971 Damita Jo Freeman and her dance partner, Don Campbell, were having fun at clubs like Maverick Flats in Los Angeles when she and Campbell auditioned for a new show called Soul Train, created by Don Cornelius, that would forever change their lives. Damita has written a book titled “Are You That Girl on Soul Train?!”
Broadway shows are tripping over themselves to announce that tickets are once more available. But don’t get dressed up just yet: The curtains won’t rise for most until September or October.
