Bishop Eddie Long Passes at 63

Bishop Eddie L. Long, pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, passed away Jan. 15 following a battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. According to a statement released by the church, Long’s death was due to an “aggressive form of cancer.” Elder Vanessa Long, his wife of 27 years, said in a statement, “I am confidant through my belief in God that my husband is now resting in a better place. Although, his transition leaves a void for those of us who loved him dearly, we can celebrate and be happy for him, knowing
