Wendy’s Window: Who Are You Mentoring?

January is National Mentoring Month.  It was established in 2002 as a campaign to promote youth mentoring, but mentoring should not be limited to just the youth. It is something we should practice throughout our entire lifetime.  Twenty years ago, I started an organization called, Forgiving For Living, Inc., where we mentor and pour into the lives of girls between the ages of 12 – 17.  We provide them with skills that can help them make positive choices for their lives.

Black Women of Los Angeles Represent at this Year’s Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.C

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) recently held its 48thConference in Washington DC. For the first time in the foundation’s history, two senators — Senator Cory Booker (New Jersey) and Senator Kamala D. Harris (California) served as honorary co-chairs for the 48th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC). Historically, co-chairs have been members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Holman UMC Hosts ‘WOMEN RISING!’

Holman United Methodist Church will host “Women Rising: Organizing Power for the Advancement and Achievement of Racial Justice, Gender Equality and Economic Equity” on Saturday, March 31, at 9 a.m., on its campus located at 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles.
