51 District Assembly member Steve Bradford, sitting with family, had a good chuckle during his swearing in ceremony on the lawn of Gardena’s City Hall when Inglewood City Counsel member Daniel Tabor made a joke at his expense.  Tabor pointed out that Bradford is ready to work, and that he will be doing a lot of it.

The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and many of newly elected 51st District

Assemblyman Steve Bradford friends and family members enjoyed a swearing in ceremony on the lawn of Gardena’s City Hall.

Inglewood City Council member Daniel Tabor was the Master of Ceremonies, and he had a lot of light hearted humor for Bradford while showing him great respect.

“While Steve is a favorite son of Gardena, Inglewood residents know the he will aggressively represent our interest in Sacramento,” Tabor said.  “Education, Health Care and  Job growth are among our shared priorities, his leadership is more critical at these periless economic times.”

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Senator Roderick Wright spoke about the hard work that Bradford has done to work his way up the political latter.

Bradford was the first Black member of the Gardena City Council.

Since taking office, Bradford has helped pay off a big chunk of Gardena’s debt, he has helped to balance the budget, and he has brought the city an annual jazz festival, among many other things.

Bradford still plans to open up his office to the public.  Every quarter, on a Saturday, he would open up his office for residents to come into his office and talk to him, without an appointment.  He believes that hearing what the people have to say will help him be successful in Sacramento.

Bradford will be taking over the seat vacated by Sate Senator Curren Price.  He defeated his rivals by capturing a whopping 52 percent of the vote in the September election.

One of Bradford’s first goals will be to balance the budget, but ultimately he wants to do the work of the people.

Bradford, who was endorsed by the Los Angeles Sentinel, supports President Barrack Obama’s healthcare plan and will also fight for the Employee Free Choice Act.Â
