Special Needs Network will host their 16th Annual Tools for Transformation Conference on April 23, 2022. This year’s conference will be in-person and last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Held to bring the nation’s leading scientific, medical, education, housing, racial justice, and disability rights experts together, the conference will allow guests to take an in-depth look at the impact of systemic racism on Black and Brown individuals living with autism, mental health conditions, and other disabilities.

Autism impacts one in 54 children in the United States. A recent study confirms that Black children with autism are diagnosed an average of three or more years after their parents initially mention concerns about their language or development. Research has shown that structural racism is a driving force in these delays.

Tools for Transformation is a nationwide conference specifically focused on underserved disabled communities of color. Corporate executives, foundation and non-profit leaders as well as disability and racial justice advocates will benefit by attending and will better understand the systemic racism faced by disabled people of color.

Also, the conference offers a unique opportunity for organizations seeking ways to implement corporate strategies of supporting anti-racist initiatives. With its focus on diversity and inclusion, Special Needs Network has made significant inroads in addressing these seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Prior to the conference will be a legislative breakfast that begins at 8:30 a.m. New York Times Bestselling Author and Race Scholar, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, will give the keynote address.

A book signing for his new book, “Entertaining Race: Performing Blackness in America,” will be held immediately following the breakfast.

The Tools for Transformation Conference will be held at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, 400 West Washington Blvd., in Los Angeles. Check-In for the breakfast, as well as the event, will begin at 7:30 a.m..

Registration for this event is available at SNNTFT16.eventbrite.com.
