The Rev. Ann Champion Shaw will be the guest speaker at the Rev. Jarena Lee Prayer Breakfast presented by the AME Church’s Southern California Conference Women in Ministry (SCCWIM).

The event takes place on Saturday, March 17, 9:30 a.m., at Carson Community Center, 801 E. Carson St., in Carson. The Rev. Dr. Charolyn J. Jones is the SCCWIM coordinator, the Rev. Carolyn Baskin-Bell is the AME Fifth District WIM president, and the Rt. Rev. Clement W. Fugh is the presiding bishop.

“Rev. Shaw serves as the Fifth District Women’s Conference Dean and is renowned for her powerful, Christ-affirming messages,” said Jones. “We encourage the public to join us for this inspiring and uplifting program.”

A fifth generation preacher, Shaw serves as assistant pastor of Bethel AME Church, Kansas City, MO. Her husband, the Rev. Robert Ryland Shaw II, is the senior pastor. In addition, she works for North Kansas City Hospital as the palliative care chaplain and serves on its Donor Council.

Shaw, a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains, is also the Central Regional Chaplain for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Clark Atlanta University and her Master’s of Divinity Degree with honors from Emory University, Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, GA.
