The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will host five public meetings to discuss how two new laws will focus efforts on reducing air pollution in the region’s environmental justice communities. Assembly Bill 617 creates more opportunities to collaborate with environmental justice communities to improve air quality in the hardest-hit areas in the region.  SCAQMD staff will be soliciting input on the first step of this process, identifying and prioritizing the communities to be addressed through enhanced monitoring and/or emission reduction strategies; and Assembly Bill 134 provides immediate funding to replace heavy-duty vehicles, equipment, and other diesel emission sources with cleaner technologies.  SCAQMD and California Air Resources Board staff will discuss the current funding strategy and solicit input on future projects as additional funding becomes available.  WHEN & WHERE: Thursday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. City of Commerce Council Chambers 2535 Commerce Way Commerce, CA 90040.
