Re-Think Your Bridal Style
By Paula Bond

It’s the one day women can justifiably self-indulge. Your wedding day! It’s the perfect opportunity to go all in, your style, your way. I’ve read your questions – “I don’t want to look like every other bride, how do I stand out?” And, “I’m on a limited budget . . . determined to look gorgeous, is it possible?”  You’ve asked the right questions because today helping us redefine bridal style is wedding designer to the stars, TV personality, and author of ‘Weddings Valentine Style’, Diann Valentine who says, “Where I think women should spend money is on their dress, can you put a price on looking fabulous?”

Not a follower of trends, she sets the trends. Diann is in demand. Brides trust her instincts and yield to her experience. For example, Diann is a big proponent of color, urging brides to re-think that traditional white gown and knock-em-dead in a champagne, gold, taupe, peach or blush pink gown, just as her client, reality star Jennifer Williams did in an Ines Di Santo original. “Wear color that makes you glow.” Diann reminds us, “White is not always the most flattering on all shades of African American skin tone.” Another element putting you ahead of the curve is Diann’s Signature Bridal cuff, an elegant jeweled bracelet dripping with a long train of flowers. Diann styled client and TV star Evelyn Lozado in a gorgeous cuff. “As a bride makes her way down the aisle, her flowers should be a beautiful accent to her gown, not a barrier blocking everyone’s view of her couture masterpiece.”

Finally, on your wedding day, stay clear of trends. Some of the most enduring Bridal looks include, strapless gowns, hair swept up and off the shoulders, make-up that flatters and when it comes to mani/pedi’s,  Diann loves a nude nail, clear, soft skin-toned lacquers that don’t distract  from your dress and make-up. The thought is, when you look back on your wedding photos years from now you want to still be in love with what you see.

You don’t have to be a bride or have a special reason, flashing her signature smile Diann wisely adds, “Every day is reason enough to be fabulous.”
