Rev. Dwain Jackson (Cora J. Fossett/L.A. Sentinel)

A spiritually uplifting celebration will take place when Price Chapel AME Church observes its 70th Anniversary.

The worship service is set for Sunday, Sept. 17, at 3:30 p.m., in the edifice located at 4000 West Slauson Ave., in Los Angeles. The theme is “Running This Christian Race: We’ve Come This Far By Faith” based on Hebrews 11:1.

“We praise God for His mercy and grace in allowing us to reach this milestone,” said Pastor Benjamin Hollins. “We invite the community to join us for this joyous occasion.”

The Rev. Dwain A. Jackson, pastor of Bryant Temple AME Church, will be the guest preacher. Called to the ministry 23 years ago, he previously served as pastor at St. James AME in Los Angeles and Bethel AME in Barstow.

He earned a B.A. degree at Wilberforce University, Master’s of Arts degree at Antioch University, and Master’s of Divinity degree at Payne Theological Seminary.

Alicia Howard is the program chair and Johnnie Fisher, Nancy Green and Ron Wallace are the co-chairs. For information, call Price Chapel at (323) 296-2406.
