The 4th annual Platform Workshop for Christian Artists will take place on Saturday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Faithful Central Bible Church, 333 W. Florence Ave., in Inglewood.
While previous Platform workshops have focused on songwriters, founder and host Carol Ross-Burnett this year’s workshop has been expanded to include singers, writers and speakers.
“I created The Platform to provide opportunities for Christian singers, songwriters, authors and speakers to develop their skills and get their voices heard,” said Ross-Burnett.
“My vision has always been to include all aspects of creative arts for Christian artists. Events are designed to provide the instruction and networking opportunities that both aspiring and experienced Christian artists want and need,” she noted.
Workshop presenters include Christian songwriter and gospel singer Babbie Mason, who launched Babbie Mason Radio online to promote independent Christian artists; and Deborah Smith Pegues, a best-selling Christian author and speaker whose book, “30 Days to Taming the Tongue,” has sold over one million copies.
“I’m delighted to join my long-time friend Carol Ross-Burnett for each Platform Workshop,” said Mason, the author of “Fully Qualified: Maximizing Your God-Given Potential.” The instructive book reveals the characteristics necessary for success in the creative arts.
In addition, motivational speaker Jewel Diamond Taylor and iconic Motown recording artist Brenda Holloway will participate. Holloway is known for the standard, “Every Little Bit Hurts,” and she wrote the top hit, “You Make Me So Very Happy.”
Other speakers will discuss writing and editing your book, self-publishing, social media marketing, and various aspects of business. Also, roundtable sessions and Q&A with speakers will be incorporated throughout the day.
