Park Hills Community Church, Reformed Church in America, will celebrate their 31st Annual Women’s Day on Sunday, May 20, at 11 a. m. The theme is “Women of God, Believing in the Power of Prayer and Praise,” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24.
The Rev. Lawrence K. Dove is the senior minister and the Rev. Dr. Arnetha E. Bell-Inge, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Compton will be the guest preacher.
An ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Inge previously served at Lynwood United Methodist Church and as an associate minister at Bethel AME Church. Also, she is an adjunct professor at the University of La Verne where she teaches Religious Studies.
Inge completed her Master of Divinity degree at Claremont School of Theology and received her Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. In addition, she serves on the board of ordained ministry in the AME Church Southern California Conference and on the board of Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches.
Dr. Hansonia Caldwell Harriford, a retired professor of music at CSU Dominguez Hills, will direct the Women’s Day Chorus. She directed the chorus at 11 previous Women’s Day services.
Harriford, who serves as minister of music at Knox Presbyterian Church, also directed and produced the award-winning documentary, “Amen: The Life and Music of Jester Hairston.”
Minister Yolanda Dove, president of Park Hills Women’s Ministries, and Mrs. Reva Turner, Women’s Day chairperson, invite the community to attend the worship and reception following the service.
