Rapper, actor, record producer and entrepreneur Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, was arrested this week at UCLA on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a university representative said. The weapon was a kettlebell, according to Phil Hampton of UCLA. Hampton said the arrest occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. at Acosta Athletic Training Complex. No one was seriously injured.

He said that Combs will be taken to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Reception Center later this evening. A kettlebell is a exercise device resembling a cannonball with a handle usually made out of cast iron. Hampton did not give a reason for the alleged assault. According to celebrity web site TMZ.com, the elder Combs saw a coach riding his son, Justin Combs, who is on the team. The elder Combs confronted the coach.

In a statement, football head coach Jim Mora wrote: “I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”
