The “Plot” To Rape Tamar – Part 2
Tamar was the daughter of David as stated in part 1. Her mother, Maachah, was a Geshurite princess and the sister of Absalom. You might say that Tamar and Absalom were very much alike in their remarkable beauty.

Merriam-Webster defines “rape” in several definitions. However, we will focus on the most well-publicized definitions as this: a carrying away by force; unlawful intercourse with a woman without her consent, and chiefly by force or deception.
You know… people laugh and talk and play music and have fun. And there is time for joy and happiness. Optimistically, some think that is the reality of life. If someone is laughing a lot, one might think they must know what they are talking about.
Although this topic may relate to today’s news, similar past events may also be of great interest and benefit. Jesus held audiences within enemy territory. But He had done His homework, and He was not coming up behind through the back door. He was well-prepared and obedient to the way His campaign should go, including how He should answer tough questions. Those who were against Him gave Him no slack. He was called dirty names…like a bastard…child of the devil…blasphemer…employee of the devil and others. There were numerous confrontations with His enemies, e.g. Pharisees, and elders. They held starkly
Some of the same subjects are on the daily and nightly news. Here’s something interesting that you may have thought about. That’s “the utilities.” That’s right. Although it’s a big subject, you don’t hear much about the “utilities.”
Don’t you see that attitude and its accompanying attitude expression quite frequently?! I have seen people who want to be “in charge.” On the contrary, sometimes what they may be saying in a round-a-bout way is that they say that, but not necessarily do they want to do the work it entails to say one thing and do something else. In retrospect, Jesus would say something similar about the Pharisees, elders, and others. Don’t do what they do. Don’t do what they say, because it’s contradictory. He called them hypocrites…saying one thing and doing something else. Israel did
It’s interesting to note that things from the past bear resemblance to things happening now.
We always want to believe that tomorrow will be better than today and today will be better than yesterday. Right. We teach our scholars (that’s all of them) and our staff (all of them) this: “today is another great day to do good and to be successful.” It’s a saying I created and learned you can speak even to people you don’t know and they smile.
Daniel was reading over some books and records written about time. Jeremiah had been writing words that addressed some specific times of things which were to come to pass. The people had been sinning—a lot—Jeremiah’s writings was talking about devastating (desolations) circumstances would be accomplished on Jerusalem in 70 years. Daniel was a praying prophet. These devastating circumstances were to take place from 479 to 409 B.C. By reading the books, Daniel understood being the number of the years that Jehovah “would accomplish in the desolations of Jerusalem.” (Daniel 9:2) Daniel further understood, based on the tenure of Cyrus, there

Sometimes, I think “they” think we’re a bunch of nutcakes! How about feebleminded, do nothing, know nothing, and accept anything as truth when we see things are just not right!
Doesn’t Matthew’s writing apply to yesterday and today? In Matthew 23, the audience Jesus was teaching to and exposing them for their hypocrisy laid open their habits of wrongdoing which they had accepted as “approved.”
Matthew tells us the Jesus “went out from the temple.” All of Jesus’ discourses since Matthew 21:23 have been in the temple courts. Here, after He has rendered the powerful denunciation of the scribes and Pharisees. This is His last public teaching. It is over a tragic moment. It appears the disciples want to divert His attention from such a scathing message delivered to the scribes and Pharisees to relieve the thoughts and move attention, the point out the beautiful stone, polished marble buildings of the temple. Herod the Great had begun to build the temple, but not yet completed.
“Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly is a true account of personal perseverance and tenacity meaningful to all society. When I saw the movie of this book, “Hidden Figures,” I was moved with passionate excitement.
I am honored to have read these informative AfricaNews and BBC News as cited in last week’s column. The UK is sending some of Ghana’s “crown jewels” back home, 150 years after looting them from the court of the Asante king.
