Sparks Struggle in Second Half, Lose to Mercury

The Los Angeles Sparks fell 81-85 against the Phoenix Mercury during their fan appreciation night.  The Sparks showed a competitiveness during  the first half that they were unable to maintain. The Mercury implemented a zone defense that the Sparks were not familiar with.

Central Avenue Jazz Festival Set for September 21

The 29th Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., on historic Central Avenue between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Vernon Avenue.

$76 Million in State Grants – Non-Profits Can Apply to Upgrade Security

Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ (SFBFS) campus, located on Bell Avenue in the state capital, is set to get a $131,583 security facelift.   The funding is courtesy of the California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which has awarded nonprofit community and faith-based groups across the Golden State with financial support to prevent hate-motivated violence since 2015.
