It’s celebration time at New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church as Pastor Sonya R. Dawson and the congregation mark their 53rd year of ministry, community service and global mission work.
The observance is set for on Sunday, March 20. The theme is “A Church Growing and Going in God’s Grace” based on 2 Peter 3:18 and Matthew 28:18-20.
At the 7:30 a.m. worship, Pastor Shane B. Scott of Macedonia Baptist Church will preach and at the 10:45 a.m. service, the Rev. Nathan Kimbrough of Atherton Baptist Church will deliver the sermon.
The grand celebration will be held at 3 p.m. The guests are Pastor A.D. Iverson and Paradise Baptist Church, Pastor Chuck Esters and Community Baptist Church, Bishop Horace Allen and First Baptist Church of Venice Worship Center, and Pastor Lance Riley and Neighborhood Church of Long Beach.
“As we prepare for this day, we invite the community to attend and we request your prayers as we reflect on the great legacy and history of our church and ask God to continually bless the work of this ministry in this generation and beyond,” said Pastor Dawson.
“Truly, we are looking forward to an awesome time in the Lord!”
