Xavier University in New Orleans has announced a new endeavor to promote studies of racial inequities and inter-relations among different groups in society.

Xavier is forming the Center for Equity, Justice and the Human Spirit. It will be directed by David Robinson Morris, who holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Research from LSU.

A news release this past week from the historically Black Catholic university says the mission of the center will be to promote research, education and community engagement. University President Reynold Verret says the aim is “to help create a more just and humane society.”
