In a world that promotes shame, hiding our scars, and covering the truth, “She Won” is a safe space for women who share similar stories of abuse. It fosters healthy relationships and facilitates community. The “She Won” luncheon takes place on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at The Modern, 2801 E. Spring St., Long Beach, CA 90806. The goal of this gathering is to unite, celebrate, and empower survivors so that they continue to take their rightful place in the world and thrive. Surrounded by supporters and people who genuinely love them, we will curate an afternoon of acceptance and affirmation. “Being raped was horrible but feeling like I could never talk about it with anyone was even worse,” one survivor said. Myesha’s passion and dedication to the deep needs of women has spanned a decade. “My heart was broken after hearing so many women share the traumatic experience of being violated that I needed to do something. I wanted to create a space to acknowledge, recognize, and empower the brave women and girls that have lived through sexual abuse,” she said. The luncheon will award local and accomplished survivors who have made significant contributions despite their past. It will feature high quality entertainment, a delectable menu, beautiful presentations to each survivor, redemptive and inspirational stories, special guest speakers, laughter, and so much more. A portion of the proceeds of this luncheon will go toward the She Won Empowerment Camp for Girls at California State University, Long Beach in July 2018.
