Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the National Football League office announced earlier this month. The weekly accolade is a career first for the second-year pro out of Clemson.
Williams recorded three touchdowns and set a career-high with seven receptions in the crucial comeback victory for the Chargers on the road at Arrowhead against the Chiefs. Williams scored two touchdowns via the air and rushed for another to become the first Chargers player since 2002 to catch a touchdown and rush for a score in the same game. He totaled 95 yards from scrimmage, adding a 19-yard rushing touchdown to his 76 yards receiving.
The 2017 first-round selection caught his second receiving touchdown of the game with four seconds left and then hauled in the go-ahead two-point conversion to secure the win. On the season, the South Carolina native has 10 total touchdowns and 592 receiving yards on 37 catches. Williams ranks second in the NFL with an 83.8 first down percentage. His 10 total touchdowns are the most by a Chargers receiver since 1996.
