Founder and Producer of the only Black National Touring Rodeo, Lu Vason proudly presents the 2009 Annual Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR). Celebrating 25 years of rodeo entertainment, the rodeo rides into town for two shows: Saturday, July 18 at 7:00pm and Sunday, July 19 at 3:30 pm., at the beautiful Industry Hills Expo Center, located at 16200 Temple Avenue in the City of Industry. Long time rodeo supporters, Actors Glynn Turman, and Reginald T. Dorsey, will serve as our official Grand Marshal and Co-Grand Marshal. Celebrities and dignitaries will be in attendance.

Founded in 1984 by Vason, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is a powerful tool Lu uses in his goal of educating people on the Black West experiences and of the cultural pride associated with all of the contributions made by African Americans. History notes that one out of every six cowboys was African American; therefore, the BPIR is a fitting tribute to Black cowboys and cowgirls nationwide.

Touring from February through November each year, this rodeo offers attendees a unique look at some of todays hottest African-American Cowboys and Cowgirls from across the United States. The BPIR is a sport that challenges the mental ability, wit and physical stamina, and represents the best-of-the best who have mastered needed skills to compete in the rodeo.
