The Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals (LAULYP) welcomes young entertainment executives, marketing gurus, and bloggers to The Future of the Industry Entertainment Summit October 5-6 at Evolve Project LA.

Attendees will meet for a full day of networking, panels, master classes powered by industry experts, and a town hall to discuss how today’s hip-hop artists can use creativity to catapult change. Created to empower and educate college students and young professionals on the growing technologies that will impact the future of Film/TV, Music, and Sports/eSports.

The two-day event who will partner with Disney, Creative Artist Agency, Sundance Institute, and HULU, and host master classes which will include a Podcasting 101 with Felicia “The Poetess” Morris, owner of Morris Media Studios, Blessed, Booked and Busy Workshop for Creative Freelancers & Entrepreneurs with Kristen V. Carter, founder of Trust Your Magic, Award-winning content creator – BET’s Black Girls Rock and NBC’s “The Voice.”

Panelist will also include Dr. Tana Sessions, Speaker and Human Resources Executive, Trell Thomas, founder & CEO of Black Excellence Brunch, New Generation Game Changer, and Media Expert, Paige Simpson, Manager of Scripted Television and Production, Will Packer, Media, Angeline Buenaventura, Economic Policy, Entertainment, Tourism, and Hospitality Industries Manager for the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, Jameela Jackson, director, StartUp Grind Hollywood / founder HustleXGlow, Justin Key, actor and author, (“Mama Knows Best”), Justin Michael Williams, Top 20’s Musician & Activist.

Day two will include a private Next Generations Award Brunch and silent auction co-hosted by the United Negro College Fund’s emerging leaders. Honorees include Next Generation Award, Trell Thomas, WACO Theater & Black Excellence Brunch, Artivism BeWoke. Vote Campaign, Impact Award Cela Sutton, ARRAY Filmworks.

Jasmine Kent of LAULYP shares her excitement regarding the event and the hard work everyone has put forth to produce the Summit.

“I’m feeling good, I’m feeling excited,” Kent says, “this was a progress in the making, but it’s long overdue for something like this to happen in LA.”

Kent also explains the event will feel like a community, as guests are welcome in any attire and the goal overall is uplifting each other, breaking barriers, and building a strong network of trusted mentors and friends.

It’s expected nearly 200 in attendance all in hopes of moving forward with their next endeavors, each with full opportunity to succeed.

“This is just one way of entry into the entertainment industry, but because we’re continuing different events with these partners, you’re able to continue the conversations and have a membership with LAULYP.”
