Vocalist Lillian Lilly along with gospel influencer and author James Birdsong Jr. will be honored during the Antigua Barbuda Gospel Music and Media Awards on Friday, October 22, at Kentish Pentecostal Church in St. John’s, Antigua in the West Indies.
“We celebrate and give honor to those who have not only paved a way for others but do so with distinction. Lillian Lilly of the Mississippi Mass Choir and James C. Birdsong, Jr. stand alongside other notable men and women in their respective fields. Lilly will be presented with the Legacy Award in recognition of her 30+-years career years as a founding member and principal vocalist of the Mississippi Mass Choir. Her voice leads the choir’s popular songs including “It’s Good to Know Jesus,” “Holy City,” and “Lord, You’re the Landlord.”, As a solo artist, she released “Gotta Have Faith” and the Stellar Award-nominated, “The Other Part of Me.”
Birdsong will receive the Impact Award of Honor for his leadership skills and mentoring of youth and aspiring gospel artists. The recipient of numerous commendations, he recently launched the Birdsong Association of Broadcasting and Arts to prepare young people for careers in the gospel music and entertainment industries. Also, Birdsong was featured in the Sentinel in November 2017 and December 2018.
