Free food, carnival rides, ice skating and more will be available at the Leimert Park Snow Night on Friday, Dec. 20, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hosted by CD 10 Councilwoman Heather Hutt, the event will be highlighted by more than 50 tons of snow trucked in and spread around Leimert Park.  Children and adults are invited to attend and enjoy wintry activities such as sledding, snowmen, and everyone’s favorite – snowball fights.

Hutt is also expected to arrange an appearance by Santa Claus as she did at last year’s event.  Sentinel Contributing Writer Lila Brown attended the 2023 Snow Night and reported on Hutt’s inspiration for presenting Leimert Park Snow Night.

In addition to bringing the community closer together, the district’s first Black woman councilmember remarked at that time, “The kids need exposure to climate and the differences that happen all over the country that we don’t necessarily have here.”  Since L.A. is known its mild and sunny winter weather, residents rarely experience snow without traveling to the mountains or to the eastern United States.

But now people can witness snow firsthand at this free family-oriented outing.  To learn more, visit cd10.lacity.gov
