Frankie Beverly, the lead singer and lyricist of the soul/funk group Maze, passed away at the age of 77, according to KTLA news.
The family posted the following message on Instagram in wake of the news, “Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience,” the message was posted on the Beverly’s personal account. it also stated “During this time, as we are navigating feelings of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance we kindly ask for privacy and understanding, allowing us the space to grieve in our own way.”
Beverly formed the band that would eventually become Maze in 1970. B Numerous albums were achieved gold status by the group and many of their singles were included in the Billboard R&B charts. “Before I Let Go,” “Can’t Get Over You,” and “Back in Stride” are a few of their best-known tunes.
Beverly was born Howard Beverly in Philadelphia on December 6, 1946. Beverly was raised in Germantown, Pennsylvania, and was born there.
