LAS: What is your name and what is your ministry?
MC: My name is Myesha Chaney, the first lady of Antioch Church of Long Beach, and my ministry and heart is music.
LAS: How long have you been in this ministry and how did you get started?
MC: I have been singing as long as I can remember, but I’ve been the Worship Leader for over 10 years now. My introduction to the music ministry was made by the late Pastor Joe Chaney, Jr. He asked me to join his praise team and from there I started my more professional musical journey.
I began to feel God prompting me to record a CD and pursue music in another facet that would enable me to be more expressive and that had the capacity to reach the lost. The pieces of the puzzle came together rather quickly and I recorded my first album to be released in July 2012.
LAS: What role has your faith played in your ministry?
MC: My faith has played a significant role because I constantly have to believe that the direction I am walking is the one He is continually leading me in. Music ministry requires an ear sensitive to God, from song selections in Worship to booking tour dates, God must be the focal point above all else. I was insecure about my ability as a singer early on in my ministry and I needed to have faith in order to even open my mouth.
LAS: What is one of the most memorable moments in your ministry?
MC: I was singing in Pennsylvania at Creation Fest 2011, seven months pregnant. It was amazing to continue to do what I love, so far away, with a baby in tow.
LAS: What are you doing or working and what are some of your future goals?
MC: I am now beginning the promotion of the release of my first album. I am enjoying spending time singing to my four-month-old baby. I look forward to touring in the fall and releasing a Christmas album.
