Joyous praise will highlight the upcoming reunion concert featuring Trenora Parker and the L.A. Cathedral Choir (LACC).

After a 10-year absence, Parker and LACC will unite for an evening of song on Saturday, July 16, at 6 p.m., at the Breath of Life Seventh Day Adventist Church, 425 S. La Brea Avenue in Inglewood. The Rev. Michael Jenkins is the host pastor.

The purpose of the concert is reflected in the event’s theme, “Reflecting and Rejoicing,” said Parker, who explained, “Over the years, many of our friends, supporters and even our own members have asked about having a reunion. They were very expressive in how L.A. Cathedral Choir’s ministry had a tremendous impact on their lives and their ministry.

“I thought about it and felt it was time to reunite for an occasion that would be joyous, exciting and memorable as opposed to homegoing services where reunions also take place.”

Parker founded LACC in 1986 and as director, led the choir to achieving national acclaim in the gospel music industry, particularly for their recording, “Worship the Lord.” LACC also recorded three CDs, “We Gotta Be Ready,” “No Other Name But Jesus,” and “Let’s Praise Our God,” before disbanding in 2006.

Jo Evelyn Parker, Harold Young, Rekesha Pittman and Pam Holt assisted with coordinating the concert, which will also feature a liturgical presentation by the Divine Praise Dancers. The ticket donation is $10.

Inviting the public to attend, Trenora Parker said, “We encourage everyone to come early for a good seat and prepare to be spiritually uplifted, inspired and blessed.”
