Ron Brown

LOS ANGELES – On Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Aspen Hall, Brotherhood Crusade will host an intimate discussion with two-time NBA Champion and three-time 3-Point Shooting Champion Craig Hodges as well as with Olympic Gold Medalist, NFL’s Fastest Man and World’s Fastest Man Ron Brown.  The conversation, moderated by actor, director, producer and philanthropist William Allen Young, will focus on the significant sacrifices these men made in order to fight for social justice and equity for African Americans and all people of color.  Well before Colin Kaepernick took a knee, Hodges was at the White House urging President Bush to address the concerns of poor and minority communities.  This stance likely cost him the remainder of his NBA career.  Yet the efforts of Hodges, Ron Brown and William Allen Young (who was the first person of color to win the NCAA Debate Championship despite facing violent racialized hatred) lay the foundation for the freedoms and rights we enjoy today.  While there is still progress to be made, this interactive dialogue with three civil rights legends will make us laugh, cry and reflect while being inspired, motivated and gently (or not so gently) agitated in a way that hopefully serves as a call to action.

Craig Hodges

You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity.  Craig will be signing his new book as well. There is no cost to attend, however, space is limited.  For tickets and to RSVP, email George Weaver at [email protected] and place the words “Hodges – Brown: Intimate Discussion, Global Change” in the Subject Box.  We look forward to seeing you on the 12th.
