It is a phenomenon called Barack Obama, an African American whose action, oratory and vision is showing Americans everywhere that intelligence, vision and courage has no race or gender. Senator Obama is inspiring all Americans to believe that the best in America is yet to come. You can see, the excitement in the eyes of the millions of people involved in his campaign—young and old, Black and White, Latino, Asian and Indian that believe in him and are committed to being part of a new generation; a generation who believes in themselves and recognizes that he is inspiring us all to be a part of a historic event that will result in the election of Senator Barack Obama as President of the United States and leader of the free world.

He gives us hope in our future and validates what our parents have instilled in us everyday from generation, after generation, after generation that even the sons and daughters of slaves brought to America against there will, born Black but proud, could be anything we wanted to be. By working hard, getting a good education, staying devoted to your family, helping our community and our country and never allowing anyone to dissuade us from doing what is right both morally and ethically, we too could one day be President of these United State or anything else we want to be.

So for the sake of generations past, who could only hope for this day, while living with the cruel reality that they would never see it but who taught us to believe in our hearts and teach our children that this day would come. We must seize this time and throw out the garbage and contamination of a racist history in America and elect a president not because of his race, but because of his brilliance.

When you are in his presence or just see his face and hear his voice on the daily news or on the radio, it is evident that this is a special man, a man that transcends ordinary and a man who can once again lead America to greatness. He is showing us qualities of leadership that can do for us and our children what many of us have not been able to do for ourselves (inspire and motivate) us to be better in generations to come. He never seems to demand respect but rather his mere presence commands respect for America. With an undeniable assurance that he elevates our level of confidence he is the one man who can lead America and the world to a better place. As African Americans this is our time, this is a time for all people but particularly African Americans to stand up and be counted, to make our mark in history. That is why the Los Angeles Sentinel Urges you to vote for Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States on Tuesday February 5, 2008.

YES WE CAN!
