Retired NBA Referee and Navy Veteran, Hue Spencer Hollins, Sr. died July 4, 2013 in Pomona. He was born November 28, 1940 in Waco, Texas, and worked as an NBA referee from 1975 – 2003. He refereed 19 playoff games and 5 All Star games. He took an active role in the Chino/Chino Hills community in youth sports. He was the assistant coach for the Don Lugo High School Boys’ basketball team. He is survived by his children, Hue Jr., Shannon, and Michael; his father Oscar Snell; his brothers James and Larry and his sister, Rev. Joe Ann Stoker. A memorial service was held July 12, 2013 at Todd Memorial Chapel in Pomona. He was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
