Tucked in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles at 832 S. Olive St., House of Wings L.A. is more than just a spot for wings — it’s the product of hustle, brotherhood, and an undeniable love for food.
Founded by longtime friends Kenneth Whyte and Siddiq Kancey, the business is an extension of Miami’s legendary House of Wings, owned by Siddiq’s father, Musaddiq Muhammad, for over 20 years. While the Miami location was an established name, the L.A. outpost was born from rooftop cookouts, street corner pop-ups, and pure word of mouth.
Siddiq, who moved to L.A. for a music marketing job at Spotify, started casually cooking wings for his friends at his rooftop pool gatherings.
“While I was working at Spotify, I’d be in my house cooking for my friends, doing a monthly pop-out,” he explained. What began as a fun side project quickly turned into something bigger. In September 2023, Kenneth joined Siddiq in L.A. for their first official pop-up in Baldwin Hills. The result? 400 people showed up. The duo thought people came to enjoy the house party, but they quickly realized the party was just an added perk for the guests.

background of cooking and flavors. It’s just a Southern thing.”
The duo didn’t waste any time turning their West Coast operation into a full-fledged business. Their approach was unconventional—no ads, no social media blitz—just a strong reputation and word-of-mouth marketing. It worked.
In just months, House of Wings L.A. landed a spot as a vendor at Rolling Loud, serving wings to celebrities, security, fellow vendors, and even catering the afterparty for Future and Travis Scott. They returned to Rolling Loud again in early March 2025.
So, what makes their wings special? “Care and quality control,” Kenneth said. Siddiq added, “For me, I look at it from a creativity mindset. There are so many flavors you can choose from.”
Their menu reflects that creativity, featuring flavors like Ghetto (a homemade barbecue sauce), Hennessy Glaze, Honey Garlic, South Beach (Teriyaki), and Citrus Island Breeze (inspired by authentic jerk seasoning with fresh lime). Each batch is crafted with the same dedication that made them a hit from day one.
The road to a permanent location wasn’t smooth. Their first pop-up spot at Los Globos ended abruptly when the venue shut them down after a small private event, despite the team adhering to every parameter and boundary set by the venue. They pivoted, running deliveries from their garage and setting up shop at random street corners.
One such corner was across the street from their current location on Olive in DTLA. A team member at the restaurant Native Sons asked if they wanted to share kitchen space. “We just signed the lease on January 1, 2025,” Kenneth said.
Now, with a storefront locked in, they’re finalizing their grand opening date. “We had a soft launch on Super Bowl Sunday, and that was amazing,” Kenneth recalled. They’re now looking to grow beyond wings. “I’m definitely looking forward to expanding the menu, showing people we have more to offer,” Kenneth shared.
