Spiritual renewal and rejuvenation will highlight the Annual Summer Revival hosted by Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 5300 South Denker in Los Angeles.
The revival kicks-off on Sunday, July 24, at the 8 a.m., and 10:45 a.m., worship and continue on Monday, July 25, through Friday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. The revivalist is the Rev. Lacey K. Curry, pastor emeritus of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois.
“The Rev. Lacey Curry is well known throughout America as one of God’s chosen vessels to exhort and proclaim the message of hope with clarity and inspiration to all who will hear,” said the Rev. Dr. Solomon L. Drake, Greater Ebenezer pastor emeritus.
The Rev. DeNon Porter, the new pastor of Greater Ebenezer, said, “Knowing of the long friendship between these two men of valor, Dr. Curry and Dr. Drake, dating from their professional baseball careers to their spiritual ecclesiastical callings, the Greater Ebenezer church family had to extend an invitation to Dr. Curry to once again visit with us and share the Good News of Jesus, as only he can do, with great wisdom, wit and understanding.”
The Rev. Curry organized Emmanuel Baptist in 1973 with 10 charter members and within a year, membership exceeded 700. Initially worshipping in a school auditorium, he led the congregation, which has grown to 1,000, in purchasing its present facility in 1974.
The following year, the Emmanuel Christian Academy was established to become a leadership training center for children in the Chicago area. The Rev. Curry retired in 2003 after serving forty years as pastor of Emmanuel.
“We invite the public to spend the week of July 24 with us. Come and learn and be refreshed and rejuvenated. His message is for all ages,” said Pastor Porter.
