The Golden State Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, PHRA, recognized nine Christian women at the ‘Honoring Our Leaders of Today – First Ladies of Faith’ luncheon on April 25, in the ballroom of the Torrance Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.

Grand Worthy Matron Estella Johnson envisioned the project. Project Chairperson, Ms. Cheryl Gray, was excited and honored to host the occasion.

Among those honored were Mrs. Paulette Alexander, first lady at Holy Tabernacle of God Baptist Church in Inglewood; Mrs. Jacquelyn Langston Calloway, first lady at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles; Mrs. Melinda Campbell, first lady at First A.M.E. Church in Pasadena; Mrs. Domeka Crutcher, first lady at El Bethel Missionary Church in Los Angeles; Mrs. Chereece Monroe, first lady at The Word of God Baptist Church in Los Angeles; Mrs. Barbara Morgan, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Ontario; Mrs. Dorothy Robinson, Union Missionary Baptist Church in Victorville; Mrs. Charlotte Sample, Redeem, Revive, Restore Baptist Church in Rancho Cucamonga; and Mrs. Yvonne Williams, first lady at New Prospect Baptist Church in Los Angeles.

The esteemed honorees have distinguished themselves by their undeviating faith in God and service to their churches and to the community. Each Lady of Faith received a lovely plaque and a bouquet of roses from the Golden State Grand Chapter, a special gift from the Grand Worthy Matron.

Also, each honoree received commendations from U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas and Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard C. Parks.

The program featured renowned gospel soloist, Ms. Nichole Kelso, and an outstanding praise dance performance by Ms. Dominique McCoy. The Honorable Lovell Morgan, Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, gave closing remarks.
