The members of Faith Community Foursquare Church will celebrate their 75th anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m., in the sanctuary located at 5519 S. Avalon Blvd., in Los Angeles, announced Pastor D.T. Paredes.
Explaining the history of the fellowship, the pastor said that the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel denomination was founded in 1923 by Aimee Semple McPherson, a Canadian woman. Twenty-five years later, in 1948, the Rev. Johnnie L. Smith, an African American woman, founded the Avalon Zion Foursquare Church within the Foursquare movement.

In September 2012, Hooper Avenue Foursquare Church (the First Foursquare congregation formed and led by African Americans) merged under the leadership of Pastor Paredes and became Faith Community Foursquare Church.
“We invite the public to come out and join our diamond jubilee celebration of 75 years of ministry on Avalon Boulevard,” said Pastor Paredes. “The future of ministry is yet to come at Faith Community Foursquare Church.”
