Former US Representative of the 33rd Congressional District, Hon. Diane Watson attended Hope in Life Foundation’s (HILF) Inaugural Fundraising Luncheon, held at the Airport Marriott in Long Beach on June 20.

She discussed ways to empower women, children and men to end Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The Commissioner of Santa Monica, Diane Miller, an activist and advocate of social justice who launched PROJECT COURTWATCH was also present and shared her personal journey dealing with domestic violence. With a mission to combat IPV, Hope in Life Foundation, a 501(C) (3) organization established in 2013, began its journey to raise its voice against the menace.

The luncheon kicked off the fundraiser to develop a device that has the potential to save lives of those in abusive situations. The fundraiser ends at midnight on December 31.

Watson said that the organization’s impact on a population that she dedicated so much of her life to impressed her greatly.

Coming together in community and spirit is the essence of her life and the entire event truly set a new bar,” Watson said. She promised HILF that she will travel with them in their journey in her heart.
