The Annual Summer Revival starts Sunday, July 26, at the 8 a.m., and 10:30 a.m., worship of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, located at 5300 South Denker in Los Angeles.
The services continue on Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. The revivalist is the Rev. L. K. Curry, pastor emeritus of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago.
“This is an opportunity to come and share in spiritual illumination from the word of God to the hearts of the people for continual spiritual development through regeneration, renewal and rededication to our commitment to Christ,” said the Rev. Dr. Solomon L. Drake, senior pastor.
“Rev. Curry has remained faithful to his call to preach and has proclaimed the Good News message throughout the United States. He is a great expositor of the Bible with clarity and understanding,” said the Rev. Dr. Solomon L. Drake, senior pastor.
The Rev. Curry organized Emmanuel Baptist in 1973 with 10 charter members and within a year, membership exceeded 700. Initially worshipping in a school auditorium, he led the congregation, which has grown to 1,000, in purchasing its present facility in 1974.
The following year, the Emmanuel Christian Academy was established to become a leadership training center for children in the Chicago area. The Rev. Curry retired in 2003 after serving forty years as pastor of Emmanuel.
“We are excited about this gathering and invite the public to share this spiritual nutrition with us. It will be good for mind, body and soul,” added Pastor Drake.
