L.A. Councilmember Curren Price is celebrating a significant win for the District 9 community, announcing that his office has successfully secured a $4.2 million grant for the South Los Angeles Wetlands Park.
The funding from Measure A will play a vital role in implementing a comprehensive Master Plan that addresses essential upgrades the community has long sought, including the installation of permanent restrooms and the revitalization of a historic bus yard.
“The South LA Wetlands is an essential asset in Council District 9 and a top priority for my office,” said Price.
“As we move forward, the feedback from the community will directly influence the Master Plan, which will guide the next steps—environmental studies and, eventually, construction.”

In collaboration with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, significant measures have been implemented to enhance safety, cleanliness, and the overall experience of this beloved park. These improvements include strengthened security, adjusted park hours, daily restroom cleanings, and upgraded lighting and infrastructure protection. Additionally, funding has been allocated for repairs to the voltage cabinet that powers the park’s fountain, with completion anticipated by April 2025.
Community meetings will be held in the coming months to gather ideas and feedback.
Price added, “This park belongs to the people. Your voice is essential in shaping its future. Together, we can protect and enhance this vital neighborhood treasure for generations to come.”
