Members of Court Compton #942 in Compton, a local chapter of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will observe Catholic Daughter Sunday on October 15, at the 9 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, located at 519 East Palmer St., in Compton.

Court members along with the Junior Catholic Daughters (JCDA Court Mother Lupita) will be present to receive a blessing and proclamation from Pastor Father Gilberto Rodriquez, S.T.
The Catholic Daughters are one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. A spokesperson explained, “As Catholic Daughters, we join to share our faith, give generously to local and national charities, and work on behalf of our parishes and communities.”

Court Compton was formed in 1925 and has a 98-year history of charitable giving and service to the community. The court has 38 members, and their home parish is Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Compton.  Members meet once a month to discuss business, plan charitable endeavors, pray, share spirituality and enjoy time together.
Some of the charitable programs Court Compton supports include scholarships to local catholic schools, food donations to four parishes, monetary donations to Salvation Army Compton and other non-profit community groups, San Pedro Pastoral Region priests and sisters, and financial aid to help with natural disasters.

Additionally, members sponsor free mammogram screenings and coordinate distributions of vaccines with Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
