Councilwoman Heather Hutt, in partnership/collaboration with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, will present a free screening of “Love & Basketball” in Leimert Park on Friday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.
“Love & Basketball” is a romantic drama that follows the intertwined lives of two childhood friends, Monica Wright and Quincy McCall, who share a deep passion for basketball. As they grow up and pursue their dreams in the sport, their relationship evolves from friendship to romance, facing numerous challenges along the way. This community classic explores themes of love and ambition, alongside the sacrifices required to achieve personal and professional goals.

“Love & Basketball” was produced by Hollywood legend Spike Lee and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who is credited with hits like “The Secret Life of Bees (2008)” and “Beyond The Lights” (2014), featuring Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps.
Leimert Park Date Night includes free food and snacks while supplies last. Doors will open at 6 PM, and the movie will begin at sundown.
