In today’s Los Angeles City Council meeting 8th District representative Marqueece Harris-Dawson was nominated to become the new President of the Los Angeles City Council. The motion was made by 5thDistrict Councilmember Katherine Yaroslavsky and 10th District Councilwoman Heather Hutt seconded the motion.
The city council could vote on the motion as soon as next week. Councilman Harris-Dawson would replace current Council President Paul Krekorian. Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson would become only the 2nd African American to hold the coveted position.
