Congresswoman Laura Richardson recently announced that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the Children’s Clinic, “Serving Children and Their Families,” a grant award for $500,000. The grant was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services through the Affordable Care Act Grants for School-Based Health Centers Capital Program.

“The Children’s Clinic fills an important role in the lives of families of the 37th District,” Richardson said.

“They offer quality, innovative health care and health education, and no family is turned away if they are unable to pay. The doctors, social workers, nurses, and all the other health providers of the Children’s Clinic are a model of excellence.”

The Affordable Care Act’s School-Based Health Centers Capital Program provides $200 million in funding between 2010 and 2013 to support the delivery and expansion of these centers. School-based health centers help children with illnesses to attend school, and they also provide screenings and disease prevention activities.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to the Children’s Clinic on this grant award and on receiving the recognition that they deserve,” said Richardson.
