As Morningside High School prepares to close its doors in June 2025, the Morningside Monarch Alumni Association (MMAA) was determined to find a way to sponsor all of the senior activities for the final graduating class.
In June 2024, the MMAA reached out to the Los Angeles Clippers seeking sponsorship for a few students. The Los Angeles Clippers not only agreed to sponsor a few students, but also graciously offered to sponsor all 120 seniors at Morningside High.

The Clippers’ generous donation of $117,600 ($980 per student) to the MMAA has made it possible to cover the costs for each student for 1 prom ticket, 1 grad bash ticket, 1 senior breakfast ticket, 1 senior outing ticket, 1 yearbook, 1 class jersey, 1 class hoodie, and 1 letterman jacket. The MMAA received the funds a few weeks ago and has already purchased the senior packages, with fittings for the jerseys and letterman jackets scheduled for this week.
“As proud alumni, we share a deep and genuine love for Morningside, and it is because of those memories that it was so important for us to create lasting memories for this final class,” said Valerie Lathern, MMAA representative.
“We are truly grateful to Mr. [Steve] Ballmer and the entire Clippers organization for partnering with us, making it possible to send the Class of 2025 out sideways!”
