The second annual Platform Workshop for Christian Songwriters will take place on Saturday, August 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC), 7900 Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.

The Platform for Christian Artists, presented in association with CCC Worship Arts, includes a songwriting workshop and sessions on the craft, ministry and business of music, writing and speaking along with networking opportunities. Attendees can also have their songs critiqued.

“I created The Platform to provide opportunities for Christian singers, songwriters, speakers and authors to develop their skills and get their voices heard,” said Carol Ross-Burnett, founder and workshop host.

Christian songwriter and gospel singer Babbie Mason will also participate. Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans and Helen Baylor have recorded her songs.

“I’m delighted to join my long-time friend and songwriting buddy, Carol Ross-Burnett, again for the 2016 Platform Workshop,” said Mason, who also teaches songwriting at two universities.

“I’ll share secrets of writing a great song and memorable lyrics, discuss defining the calling, and inform participants how to get their music heard on Christian radio.”

Other professional songwriters participating include Jeanette Hawes of The Emotions singing group, “My Help” writer Jackie Gouche Farris, and Keith Echols, co-writer of Helen Baylor’s “Highly Recommended.”

Christian therapist, author and ordained minister Dr. Mary Simms will speak on finding success in your purpose and attorney William A. Brown, Jr., will talk about the business of music.

Also, the Babbie Mason Radio Jingle Contest will be open to workshop registrants to win prizes that showcase their music to a global audience.
