Ralph D. Sutton, a L.A.-based public relations and marketing professional, passed away on Friday June 16.  Known as “the man with the golden voice,” Ralph had a memorable career as a radio broadcaster before finding success in the public relations field. He was a deejay on KGFJ-AM and KAGB-AM for many years.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 7, at 10 a.m., at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 510 West 53rd Street in Los Angeles.  The viewing takes place on Thursday July 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Angeles Funeral Home, 3875 South Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Mr. Sutton’s unwavering dedication to his craft as a public relations and marketing agent has spanned countless years, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of numerous nonprofits within the community. With a steadfast, unshakeable commitment to excellence, he has consistently provided invaluable information and forged meaningful connections, empowering these organizations to thrive and make a profound impact. His selfless efforts have become a beacon of inspiration, illuminating the path toward a brighter future for all those he serves.

Ralph’s unwavering pride as a native of South Central Los Angeles has been, and will forever remain, an inspiration to behold. He embarked on a remarkable journey, fueled by his firm passion for storytelling and a thirst for knowledge. With dogged determination, he pursued his Master’s in Journalism from Cal State University Los Angeles, a stepping stone that would pave the way for his extraordinary future.

It was during his tenure at KGFJ and KAGB that he first earned his illustrious reputation as “The Man with the Golden Voice,” captivating listeners with his mesmerizing presence and enchanting vocal prowess. Throughout his journey, he diligently and steadfastly crafted a remarkable roster of influential celebrities, visionary politicians, and generous benefactors who would undoubtedly play pivotal roles in his upcoming campaigns.

As a self-employed entrepreneur, he has dedicated countless years to his partnership with The Entrepreneur Educational Center, passionately collaborating with  Executive Director Barbara J. Stanton to amplify the impact of her remarkable economic development programs.  Their combined efforts resulted in securing a  $5.2 million grant from State Senator Steven Bradford.

Stanton noted, “Together, we have proven that when we join forces, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve extraordinary feats. Let this remarkable achievement serve as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us before Ralph embarked on his journey with non-profit organizations, he had already showcased his remarkable talent for magnifying the potential of both individuals and endeavors. This was most evident in his collaboration with the esteemed Danny Bakewell.”

Amid destiny’s embrace, he found the captivating woman who would become his cherished partner, bound by love and commitment for an incredible 12 years. Similarly, Ralph’s persistent determination led him to secure an exceptional national spokesperson for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America- none other than the remarkable TBOZ, an illustrious member of the iconic Pop Group, TLC.

Ralph D. Sutton’s wife peacefully passed away on November 17th, 2022, and on June 16, 2023, exactly 7 months and one week later, Mr. Sutton chose to reunite with Eunice at the Pearly Gates.
